Where do your stories begin?

Originally I got into writing through fashion magazines working for STYLIST and GQ so I’m obsessed with big, chunky coffee table books. So much so I’m running out of storage in my flat to store them! This is something I have been working on for some time with heaps of imagery and some added stories. In opposition to that I have written some short children’s books to settle the inner child in me.

What was the first book that you fell in love with?

Roald Dahl - Georges Marvellous Medicine. What a treat of a book! I can’t remember my age but I know that it was read so much that the pages had half of my dinner on them mixed with tears of excitement. Such an exhilarating book filled with adventure.

Who is your author crush?

I’m changing this to Editor crush… therefore I’d have to say Dylan Jones. The man has a powerful presence and is always dressed impeccably. I can remember his suits every day were just c'est magnifique! He’s also beyond brilliant at what he does and a really friendly person.

If you could spend the day with a character from any piece of literature, who would it be?

Sherlock Holmes mainly because I fancy myself as a detective in another life also because…
Benedict Cumberbatch… need I say more?

If you were stranded on a desert island with a single book, which would you choose?

The Alchemist. Because I think it's a book you can get lost in. It's hopeful, an easy read and quite possibly the only book that would give me the heap of positivity needed to get me through! A simple but beautiful story.

Where do your stories begin?

When I was a teenager I knew that I was going to grow up to be a rockstar and I spent a decade writing songs, lyrics and music in service of this goal. It took me a long time to figure out that I was more enamoured with the story I had created for myself than the path I had ended up walking and so I changed gears, put the guitar to one side and picked up fantasy, sci-fi and adventure!

What was the first book that you fell in love with?

The first book that I became obsessed with was Artemis Fowl, but I think the first book that I really fell in love with was The Picture of Dorian Gray.

Who is your author crush?

This changes like the weather but right now, in this moment I'd say... Terry Pratchett. Maybe Alan Moore. Actually, it's changed again, Joe Abercrombie. No, Brandon Sanderson. All of the above.

If you could spend the day with a character from any piece of literature, who would it be?

Probably Marvin from The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy. He has a brain the size of a planet and when he says things like, "I wish you'd just tell me rather than try to engage my enthusiasm", I feel heard.

If you were stranded on a desert island with a single book, which would you choose?

Small Gods by Terry Pratchett because it always makes me laugh and it feels like each and every page has been infused with joy and compassion. But, if I could cheat and have a series I'd take The Stormlight Archives because it's one of the greatest epics of them all.
